The version of Renault Twizy which requires a driver's license is powered by a 15kW (20hp) motor, while the version that doesn't require a license (depending on country) comes with a 4kW (5hp) motor. The 7kWh lithium-ion battery is located underneath the front seat. Renault India is planning to make a foray in to the low cost car market in India by launching a small car that will be priced under Rs.4 lakhs. Mark Nassif who is heading Renault India has confirmed the French carmaker's plans.
Meanwhile Mr Nassif has stated his company was aiming to sell one lakh cars in India. However, he also added this target could be achieved only after Renault had at least five models along with 100 showrooms in India. This could happen either in 2013 or in 2014. The low cost car will have to make a major contribution for Renault India to achieve its sales target
